Swayam Prabha is a group of 34 DTH educational television channels run by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The channels are devoted to telecast high-quality educational programmes on 24X7 bases using the GSAT-15 satellite. The channels are uplinked from BISAG, Gandhinagar and the contents are provided by NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS.
There are 6 NPTEL channels (Channel number-11 to 16) through which contents generated by IITs are transmitted. IIT Bombay is offering curriculum-based courses that can meet the need of time on the backdrop of Covid-19 for the learners across the nation. The channels will cover course contents at postgraduate and undergraduate level incorporating diverse disciplines in engineering, technology, science, social sciences and humanities.
The Swayam Prabha DTH TV channels can be received through the set-top box and dish antenna of “DD Free Dish” of Doordarshan. It is also available to Dish TV subscribers and mobile subscribers of Jio through Jio TV app.
